Sixth Form

St John Henry Newman Catholic School has a small but thriving Sixth Form of 60 pupils.  We aspire to be the best post-16 provider in our area.  Pupils are offered a range of A-Level and BTEC courses in a supportive environment underpinned by Christian values of community, compassion and responsibility towards others.

We believe that educating young people is one of the most important jobs in society. At St John Henry Newman we take that task very seriously. St John Henry Newman Sixth Form is small and we pride ourselves on knowing our pupils as individuals, and providing individual support and guidance throughout their time with us.

Want to play your part in Sixth Form? Why not join the Sixth Form Council which meets weekly to move Sixth Form forward. See Mrs Hoskins for details.

Sixth Form pupils at Newman school organise and run a Council. The purpose of this Council is to contribute to the smooth running of the school, give pupils a voice and to contribute to the wider community. To this end we hold meetings on alternate weeks and plan activities that meet the stated objectives. We have a nominated charity that changes every year and we fundraise throughout the year for this.

The Council also raises funds to assist in improving the school environment and is currently considering what they want to support. Fund raising activities run in the past have been raffles, bag packing at local supermarkets, cake and refreshment stalls and food stalls.

The Sixth Form Council also runs a programme of social events and will usually appoint a social secretary, however this programme is individually tailored to each Sixth Form and is arranged whenever there is a demand for an event.

All Sixth Form pupils are encouraged to be part of the Council.
